OUPV stands for Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel. This license allows Captains to operate vessels of less than 100 gross tons carrying up to six passengers for hire plus crew. OUPV Vessels are normally fishing, SCUBA diving, tour vessels. While still regulated by the USCG, uninspected vessels are LESS regulated than inspected vessels.
The OUPV Course consists of four parts: Rules of the Road Plotting (charts) Navigation - General Deck General and Safety
Masters Upgrade 25, 50 or 100 Gross Ton Far Horizon Captains School offers an upgrade course that allows qualified Captains a way to upgrade to a Masters License. A Master license allows you to operate Uninspected and Inspected vessels. Inspected vessels are licensed to carry more than six passengers and must be built in compliance with the stringent USCG Commercial Vessel Inspection standards.

Far Horizon Captains School is approved by the USCG to administer the Masters Upgrade test. The test will be administered by Far Horizon at the end of your course.
